REPORT OF WORK GROUPS
Access to Health Care
The PCP video is finally finished and was viewed by the group. We believe that
we have the rights to copy the video in any way we want, but that Fireside
Pictures owns the copyright to the film which does not allow us to alter or
change the content in any way (i.e. translation). We will confirm this
information. Translation is a very lengthy and expensive process. Now the
challenge will be marketing the video. The group has already made arrangements
with some local agencies to play in their waiting areas. Suggestions were made
to contact local cable stations to run the video either in its entirety, or use
small sections. A newspaper release was also suggested.
Healthy Lifestyles
The next meeting is scheduled for March 9th – 3:00 a the Student Service Center
at Durfee High School. Mayor Lambert has embraced the nicotine replacement
project and will be the spokesman. The date is being kept quiet, but will be
announced some time in the near future with a press conference. Approximately
4,000 packets will be available on a first come first sere basis. The
heart-attack survey is underway and should be completed by May.
Healthy Youth
Working on the Mayor’s Youth Forum. The Forum will be held on either May 7th or
May 14th. The location will possibly be the new addition at the Boy’s and Girl’s
Club. The theme is “Youth and Adult Partnership.” The group is also focusing on
the annual poster contest. We are not sure where that will be held this year.
Health City Initiative
Planning continues for the spring event. We are currently looking for sponsors
for an ad book to help with the cost of the event. Planning in regards to
catering and the design of the award is still being looked at. There are a few
plan participants that have not submitted their reports, but we are working on
that. The training series is finishing up, but there will be repeat trainings
offered in the Brockton area. We are currently looking for registration for the
HELPP series beginning March 1st. Please circulate applications through your
agencies/organizations.
