Dear Friends:
The Fall River Healthy City initiative kicked off to a strong start with our well-attended Community Visioning Forum on February 27. I want to thank the more than 100 community members who took time from their busy schedules to begin setting a vision for a Healthy Fall River.
The Visioning Forum began a process of reaching out to the community to develop a vision for the future of Fall River, which will result in a plan of action to move our city toward goals we will set together. To ensure that everyone has a voice in the process, we will hold a series of events to gather input from all segments of the Fall River community over the next several months.
I invite you to become part of the Healthy City Design Team, which will plan and implement further outreach activities in order to generate a comprehensive vision for the city, complete with goals, objectives, and an action plan. The Design Team will convene on Thursday April 3, 2002 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Center. Please contact Maureen Estes in my office at (508) 324-2600 to RSVP for the meeting or for further information.
Thank you again for your participation in the Fall River Healthy City initiative. The success of our initiative depends upon the involvement of citizens like you in moving Fall River towards a vision for a brighter tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Edward M. Lambert, Jr.
Mayor

Next Steps
The Healthy City process is underway! It is an exciting, dynamic but lengthy process which will involve seeking input from the broadest possible spectrum of people in Fall River. The following outlines our expectations of the process over the next year.
The Design Team will meet at least quarterly to review input as we receive it.
We will continue to seek input from all sectors of the community, through October 2003, by sponsoring additional visioning sessions and participating in other organized community activities, such as festivals and special events.
By December 2003, the Design Team will organize a general meeting to present the input received at visioning sessions and to provide a time for participants to identify goals for the initiative.
Beginning in January 2004, work groups will be initiated to develop and implement action plans to reach identified goals.
To keep up with the progress, visit us this web site regularly We will post information about scheduled visioning events along with the input we receive. Minutes from the Design Team meetings will also be available on this site.
