Young people at the Lafayette and North Park Summer Neighborhood Festivals enjoyed lots of vigorous physical activity, including dodge ball, hip-hop dancing, a climbing wall, pick-up basketball and a basketball shoot-out organized by the Fall River Youth Services Coordinator and members of the Fall River Community Police Unit. "Kids are eager to be active if events are organized," noted Christian McCloskey, Youth Services Coordinator for the City.

The Neighborhood Summer Festival 2004 and all of its activities were organized by the Community Coordinator Maureen Ryan Estes with assistance from After-School Coordinator Marilyn Edge and the invaluable partnership with Grace Gerling and Community Development Recreation, Chief John Souza, Officer Warren Francis and the Fall River Police Department, Fall River Youth Service Coordinator Christian McCloskey and the Mayor's Youth Council. The Neighborhood Summer Festival 2004 offered four, free, fun events filled with physical activities, games, music, dancing and a giant climbing wall on Tuesday afternoons from July 20 - August 10, beginning with Abbott Court, then Lafayette Park and followed by Maplewood Park and finally North Park. This festival was made possible through the generous donations of corporate sponsors, which include; City of Fall River, the Fall River Police Department, Partners for a Healthier Community, Saint Anne's Credit Union, Fall River Ford, McGovern's Family Restaurant & Banquet Facility, Army National Guard and Gold Medal Bakery.
