On August 6, 2005, Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey announced a $3.1 million award for the reconstruction of the west berth of the Fall River State Pier. Healey, chairs the Massachusetts Seaport Advisory Council. The pier project commences the next major step in the revitalization of the Port of Fall River and the development of a state-of-the-art water transportation hub. With the new design of a modern-day, multi-use terminal underway, the structural integrity of the pier and its ability to berth larger vessels becomes possible. |
