Safe Routes to School
Action Plan Participant:  Fall River Public Schools

Fall River Public Schools, in partnership with statewide experts, are developing a Safe Routes to School program that will eventually involve all public schools. Schools will conduct surveys to determine the best ways to encourage students to walk or bike to school safely. Parents, teachers and administrators will work to develop programs that fit each school's particular circumstances.

To reduce the incidence of obesity among youth and adults

Goal:

Create and support a sustainable Safe-Routes-to-School system to support walking on the part of 80% of elementary, middle and high school students in public and private schools

Method(s):

Plans are currently in development in several schools

Projects will come on line as schools elect to participate
