The Southcoast Hospital Group provides tobacco education through the implementation of the state-sponsored "Quitworks" Program.

Goal:

To increase education and smoking cessation to the population served.

Method(s):

Identification of smokers who enter the Southcoast system and provide smoking cessation counseling and referrals to "Quitworks"
Timeline:          

Implementation May, 2004, and then ongoing.
Indicators:       

Aggregate reports including the number of referrals and successes.

How citizens can  get involved:

Numerous providers at Southcoast may self-refer or refer to neighbors, families and friends, as well as to the Health System consumers.
