Families Preventing Diabetes; Keep Moving |

The Diabetes Association Inc provides "Families Preventing Diabetes; Keep Moving!" a new program for families at risk of developing diabetes. This six-week program is open to all families interested in learning more about living a healthier lifestyle and provides one hour of a fun and varied physical activity and one hour of nutritional instruction and information. A statewide Diabetes Prevention and Control program monitors outcomes on a statewide basis. |

To decrease the incidence of diabetes and pre-diabetes among the Fall River population. |

One-time or short-term programs to increase knowledge of how to prevent or control diabetes – peer education and speakers from the professional healthcare community. |

| Progress: | The Diabetes Association Inc., (DAI), began their “Power To Move!” exercise program to help people of all ages and abilities, with or at risk for developing diabetes. The program combines stretching, strength training and low-impact aerobics. This past spring 38 children and adults participated in the DAI’s Families Preventing Diabetes: Keep Moving program, and a new program was offered in the Spring. | |
