Peace Summit Project
Action Plan Participant:
United Neighbors of Fall River
Fall River agency representatives, police officers, youth outreach workers, students and parents gathered to reduce the potential for violence in the community over the coming years. The group is not planning a Peace Summit for the entire community to be held in the Spring of 2009. The summit, now called the “Peace by Piece”, will be a full day conference, featuring a keynote speaker and workshops on various topics relating to violence prevention.

1, A)    Increased community policing and safety

Goal:

To bring together the community to gain the skills and knowledge to address violence in their own communities, raise community awareness and mobilize others within the community

Method(s):

Plan and hold a full-day conference, featuring a keynote speaker and workshops on various topics relating to violence prevention. Other components of the summit will include a resource fair, music, food and a candlelight vigil.  There will also be activities leading up to and following the summit.
