Edward Bernstein, M.D., of the Boston University School of Medicine instructs the medical personnel in the Screening, Brief Intervention to Referral and Treatment (SBIRT) strategy for getting patients to initiate or maintain health behavior changes such as quitting smoking, losing weight, getting regular exercise or reducing the use of alcohol. Healthy City Fall River is working with the St. Anne's Emergency Department to teach these skills to local providers. |
