Mayor's Office Housing Improvement Plan

The Mayor's Office plans to follow through with a plan to replace the Watuppa Heights Housing Development with 100 units of scattered site low-income, owner-occupied units which will offer the tenants of Watuppa Heights, and many others in our community, better housing opportunities, while allowing for the demolition and transformation of that housing development.

Goal:

To improve low-income housing in the city by constructing 26 units of owner-occupied housing and offering 74 subsidized apartment units to the current residents of the Watuppa Heights Housing Development.

Method(s):

The Fall River Office of Economic Development has contracted with BC Stewart & Associates of Boston and Lowe Associates of Chestnut Hill to develop a Housing Improvement Plan

Timeline:          

2004-2006, estimated

Progress: The Fall River Housing Authority has been authorized and is now moving forward to soon implement the plan to construct new owner-occupied and subsidized apartment units on the site of the Watuppa Heights housing project.

Completion of the Housing Improvement Plan

Residents will be given ample opportunities to participate
in relocation planning and efforts.
