DMH Health Initiative
Action Plan Participant:
Corrigan Mental Health Center

The DMH Health Initiative supports an ongoing effort to improve the physical fitness of residents of DMH-funded group residences and participants in outpatient services. The programs provided by the Corrigan Mental Health Center and the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health will encourage participation in a number of physical fitness activities designed to improve fitness and counter a sedentary lifestyle.

Goal:

To improve physical fitness of Department of Mental Health group home residents and outpatients

Method(s):

Utilization of special events to challenge clients to participate in physical fitness activities such as walking and running

Weight loss, improved fitness, and improved self-esteem
