![]() The Fall River Housing Authority has developed a community garden for use by Oak Village Apartment residents with the assistance of young people who are working for the Housing Authority over the summer. Raised beds were constructed by YouthBuild students and soil provided by the City. Housing Authority Family and Youth Services Coordinator Joey DaSilva is coordinating the project. ![]() Promise Leaders of Tomorrow (PLOT) and Team FRESH, two youth groups organized by the Healthy Youth Task Force of Partners for a Healthier Community, Inc. have established a small garden plot at the rear of the Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium building (Armory) at 72 Bank Street. Youth are tending the garden as a community project and donating the produce to local soup kitchens and the Fall River Food Pantry. ![]() St. Luke’s Church on Warren Street has dedicated a portion of its parking area across the street from the Church for use as a community garden. One strips bordering the parking area has been planted with vegetables. Members of the church and people from the neighborhood are tending the garden and a portion of the produce will be donated to local soup kitchens and the Fall River Food Pantry. ![]() The Watson Elementary School on Eastern Avenue has two raised beds constructed by volunteers Jerry Bernier and Department of Public Works employee Abel Oliver where students are raising a variety of vegetables. Funding came from Tufts University’s Children In Balance”. Teachers Jasmine Olean and Carrie Guy are working with the students.
