Community Action for
Better Housing |

Catholic Social Services (CSS) and Community Action for Better Housing (CABH) will receive a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to convert the rectory of St. Anne’s Church at 818 Middle Street to 18 apartments for low-income elderly and disabled people. Catholic Social Services also provides education and counseling for first-time homeowners through seminars and one-to-one sessions. |

Method(s): |
Catholic Social Services and Community Action for Better Housing will receive a capital grant of $1.7 million to develop the housing. They will then get a five-year rental subsidy of $387,500 to cover the difference between the residents’ contribution toward rent and the cost of operating the project. |

| Progress: | Community Action for Better Housing is in the process of converting the rectory of St. Anne’s Church to 18 apartments for low-income elderly and disabled people.
