BOLD (Building Our Lives Drug-Free) Coalition
Action Plan Participant:  Stanley Street Treatment and Resources, Inc.

BOLD, organized from an existing community leadership group in 2004, has a primary goal of reducing substance abuse in the youth of Greater Fall River. BOLD engages community members in a planning process to enhance the protective factors and to reduce risk factors leading to substance abuse in the community’s families. BOLD sponsors pro-social events for teens.

Safety and Substance Abuse

1,B)     A drug-free community, including enforcement of  tobacco regulations

Goal:

To reduce substance abuse in the youth living in the Greater Fall River Area.

Method(s):

Bring together interested community members to assess a need, identify the resources in Fall River and plan a solution. Community members take the solution, implement it, and evaluate its effectiveness.

BOLD has funding through October, 2009.

1) Number of community volunteers working with BOLD and attending BOLD sponsored events
2) Decrease in use of alcohol, marijuana, and other drugs reported in the Behavior risk survey
3) Healthier perceptions about alcohol and drug usage reported in the school behavior risk survey
