500 Mile Club |
|
|
Youth Program Director Bill DaPonte of the Diabetes Association has teamed up with the St. Michael School to run a daily fitness program. The Feelin' Good Mileage Club challenges students to log a total of 500 miles by walking for 20 minutes each day after lunch. Participants are eligible to enter a drawing for a new bicycle at the end of the year. The classroom with the highest mileage is also treated to a pizza party. Though the project was initially designed to target children who are at risk of developing diabetes, it involves all students in vigorous activity so everyone benefits. |
