Participants in the Greater Fall River Fitness Challenge and the Fall River Parent Academy watched a 12-minute version of Fed Up on the Southcoast, a video that spells out how high carbohydrate diets have led to a steady increase in overweight, obesity and diabetes in America and much of the world on January 23, 2015. Basing his talk on Partners'  approach to reducing obesity, Dr. David Weed presented on "How to Lose Weight Without Going Hungry" to over twenty participants in the  and  outlined why permanent weight loss and improved cardiovascular health can be best achieved by reducing dietary carbohydrates and increasing fat. Partners now recommends whole foods with natural fats through it guidelines, and its efforts to reduce sugar-sweetened beverages. At the end of his presentation, Dr. Weed introduced Katie-Beth Wright who has been successfully following a low-carb high-fat diet to give participants a better understanding of what's involved.
