The
second Winter Market of the 2012 season was held at the Veterans' Memorial Auditorium
on Saturday morning, February 11th, featuring products from a variety of
local vendors. Designed as an opportunity to showcase local products, the market featured local vendors offering
cheese, bread, oatmeal, honey in addition to soap, photographs and even
dog biscuits!. "We're getting a large variety of locally-produced
products that are typically unavailable in local stores," noted
market coordinator Annemarie Sharkey. The event also featured a cooking
demonstration by Chef Bill Walker of the Tradewinds
Restaurant and students from B.M.C.
Durfee High School. This was another opportunity to teach ways of
cooking healthy foods using fresh produce like what is featured on the "Look
Who's Cooking" show on FRED-TV
cable television.
