William Flanagan, Community
Maintenance Director Ken Pacheco and Traffic
Director Laura Ferreira were on hand at the intersection of Eastern
Avenue and New Boston Road on August 2, 2011 to talk about a project to
refresh the road striping throughout the City. DPW crew members Ray Sousa
and Tony Souza were also on hand to demonstrate how the work is done.
Members of the Fall River Bike Committee, Dave and Sandy Dennis, Niagara
Neighborhood Association member Helen Rego and Massachusetts
Representative Paul Schmid joined the officials to hear about plans to
renew the painting throughout the City. "This is a matter of quality
of life for Fall River residents, stated the Mayor, noting the safety
factor for pedestrians as well as automobiles. The Mayor also stated that
plans to include striping for bicycle lanes on some City streets would be
included in next year's work.
