For years, there has been no central place in Fall River where one could obtain multiple copies of the many brochures and other printed information that describe the services and resources available to the community. United Neighbors of Fall River executive director Wendy Garf-Lipp saw an opportunity to solve this problem in the lobby of the United Way building at 80 North Main Street when United Way executive Director Robert offered her the use of the space if she would install and maintain it. "It was a win-win for both of us," commented Garf-Lipp. "He got a great supply of information that his staff could use, and we got a great location right downtown that was easy to access." Anyone can walk in during regular business hours and help themselves to information right inside the door. Parking is nearly always available steps away from the door. "You're in and out so fast, you don't even need to put money in the meter," added UMass student intern Matt Kennedy who was responsible for setting up the center.
