PARTNERS | HEALTHY CITY  | HOW HEALTHY | VISION | SUMMIT | PRIORITIES | FUNCTIONS | CITY OF FALL RIVER

Several hundred people in the Corky Row neighborhood gathered to celebrate National Night Out, a nationwide crime prevention effort that emphasizes building a partnership between the police and the community, at Griffin Park on August 2, 2010. The local event was co-sponsored locally by Mayor William Flanagan, the Fall River Police Department, Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter, United Neighbors, the Fall River Housing Authority, Community Development Recreation and members of the Youth CHOICES Collaborative. Leaders recognized this year's Heroes of Peace Award recipients. National Night Out is designed to: 1) heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; 2) generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; 3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and 4) send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized.
