Nominees for the Second Annual Heroes of Peace Award Ceremony were in attendance at Griffin Park on July 25, 2011 to help announce the upcoming National Night Out that takes place the following week on August 2nd.. National Night Out is sponsored each year in Fall River by Mayor William Flanagan, the Fall River Police Department, Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter, United Neighbors, the Fall River Housing Authority, Community Development Recreation and members of the Youth CHOICES Collaborative. The event is aimed at creating a more peaceful community by raising awareness and promoting empowerment, collaboration and connection to reduce and prevent violence. Residents in neighborhoods across the nation are asked to spend the evening with neighbors and police. Click here for a video of the event.
