Members of Voices for a
Healthy SouthCoast, of which Healthy City Fall River is a part, met on
August 30, 2011 at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH)
headquarters in New Bedford to hear from Erin Redding, RD, LDN, of the New
England Dairy & Food Council. She
presented on Fuel Up to
Play 60,
an in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by National
Dairy Council and National Football
League, in collaboration with USDA.
The program encourages youth to consume nutrient-rich foods (low fat and
fat free dairy, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains) and achieve at least
60 minutes of physical activity a day. |
