A dozen Fall River Fitness Challenge participants followed 2008 & 2010 Challenge winners Daryl Parrent and Cliff Read on a 2.5 mile walking course from Community Development Recreation (CD-REC) headquarters on Bank Street to the bottom of Kennedy Park and back. This seventh Challenge event was designed to help participants work on their fitness goals during the final month of the four-month event. The Challenge will conclude during the first week in May with a final weigh-in. Prizes will be awarded to those individuals and team who lose the most weight. Participants who have been involved with the past three Challenge years will also be acknowledged. Sponsored by the Diabetes Association, Inc. (DAI), CD-REC, the Fall River YMCA, General Fitness and Healthy City Fall River, and supported by grants from the United Way of Greater Fall River and Partners for a Healthier Community, the Challenge offers low cost opportunities for those who live, work or attend school in Fall River to get fit.
