Mayor Will Flanagan helped Community Development Re-creation (CD-REC) kick-off the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) at Lafayette Park on July 6, 2010. The Program, administered nationally by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Massachusetts Department of Education, was established to ensure that children in needy areas could continue to receive nutritious meals during the summer months that are comparable to those served under the National School Lunch Program. Free lunch is available to children 18 years of age and younger, Monday through Friday, from Monday, July 6th through September 3rd at North, Griffin, Lafayette, Ruggles Parks as well as Father Diaferio Village will serve lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.. Abbott Court, Kennedy, Maplewood, and Pulaski Parks will serve lunch from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. Park activities will also be provided from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
