The City of Fall River and the Friends of Heritage State Park sponsored a Fourth of July evening event at Battleship Cove that drew thousands. The warm evening brought people to the waterfront to enjoy the carnival events at the midway set up in the parking lot or to listen to the music of the musical group Room Full of Blues. As the sun set over the Taunton River, a few even took advantage of the live music to dance in the grass. By 9:30 p.m. twenty minutes of fireworks had begun, much to the enjoyment of the crowd that included lots of children and families, many from surrounding communities. "This is a terrific event for families," commented Dave Cote of Fall River who brought his two-and-a-half-year-old son to see the event. Click here for photos of last year's event.
