All 774 students from the William S. Greene Elementary School celebrated International Walk to School Day on October 13, 2010 by walking around the school building five times. Students had planned to walk on the official day, October 6th, but had to postpone the event due to rain. Assistant principal Tara Gagnon organized the event with the help of teachers, teachers' assistants and the school nurse. Many parents accompanied the students for the thirty-minute walk. School Principal Vivian Kuss encouraged the students and their parents to make walking to school a regular practice. Click here to see the video of the event. Click here to see photos of the same event at the Spencer Borden School. For more information about the program, contact School Wellness Coordinator Marcia Picard.
