Over fifty people from eight Fall River churches and organizations gathered at the United Parish on Wilson Road on October 2, 2010 to raise over $6,000 in funds for the Greater Fall River Council of Churches CROP Walk. CROP Walks are the original walk-a-thons to raise money to fight world hunger over the past fifty years. Each year some two million CROP Hunger Walkers, volunteers, and sponsors put their hearts and soles in motion, raising over $16 million per year to help end hunger and poverty around the world and in their own communities. All of the money raised is channeled through Church World Service, an ecumenical agency with a long track record of working with established mission agencies and projects throughout the world. Twenty-five percent of the money raised helps feeding ministries in Fall River. For more information about the event, contact organizer Toosie Margolies at 508-675-4198 or 508-677-5353.
