The Board of Directors of Community Development Recreation (CD-REC) held its annual spring fundraising event at the Laser Gate indoor golf range on Plymouth Avenue on June 1, 2010. "We wanted to have a golf tournament that everyone could enjoy," stated Program Director Jamison Souza. The event brought foresomes together for $100 each to play nine holes on the course illuminated only by black light. "It made for some unusual effects and a real challenge," noted Executive Director Grace Gerling. Teams competed and together raised funds that will be used for upcoming program expenses. CD-REC  provides year-around recreational, educational and cultural programs for Fall River residents, with a particular emphasis on socio-economically disadvantaged youth. CD-REC is a prevention-based organization that recognizes that a safe and nurturing environment is necessary for youth to explore their talents and build self-esteem.
