An educational series was
held at several of the
Council on
Aging senior centers during the month of June, 2009, focused on the
relationship between diet, nutrition and memory loss. John Rogers, SSW,
of the Somerset Ridge Center, and Director of Admissions Monique Roberts
presented to seniors at the Maplewood Senior Center on June 17th. Mr.
Rogers emphasized the importance of eating a healthy diet and getting
daily cardiovascular exercise through walking and other forms of
moderate activity in order to maintain brain health. He also talked
about the role of
stress and depression in aging and its role in
memory loss. "Mr. Rogers provides a wealth of information that every
senior can use to keep their minds sharp" commented
facility director Patti Linhares.
