The
annual 5K Spring Sprint fundraiser for the Greater Fall River
Re-Creation Committee took off shortly after 10:00 a.m. on May 2,
2009, and headed to
Heritage
State Park,
the Battleship
USS Massachusetts, and along the Taunton River on the mile-long
boardwalk to
Bicentennial Park. The event raises funds
for programs provided by CD-REC which provides year-around recreational,
educational and cultural programs for Fall River residents, with a
particular emphasis on socio-economically disadvantaged youth CD-REC is
a prevention-based organization that recognizes that a safe and
nurturing environment is necessary for youth to explore their talents
and build self-esteem.
