Children and parents from the Osborn/Fowler School had the opportunity to sample some of the programs that serve the community in a health and safety fair that took place on June 3, 2008, at the school. Agencies including the St. Anne's Hospital Fernandes Center, the Diabetes Association, Inc., BMC HealthNet Plan, and the HealthFirst Family Care Center were on hand to explain what they have to offer. The UMass Extension Nutrition Education program, which has been teaching kindergarten through 5th grade children in Fall River elementary schools about how they can improve their nutrition at home, had a tempting display of fruits and vegetable snacks. School nurses were on hand to demonstrate the basics of CPR and the Fall River Police Department gave away bicycle helmets as part of their safety display. For more information, contact School Nurse Sally Borges or School Principal Karlene Ross at the Osborn/Fowler School at 508-675-8275.
