Students at the Doran Elementary School who walk to school receive small plastic "feet" as a reward on Friday for walking to school that day. They then can play a game of Four Square before classes begin. The Walk-to-School project was planned through the School Committee and Healthy City Fall River as a way to encourage more children and adults to walk. Six schools now participate in the program that acknowledges children who either walk to school or participate in a walking program within the school building.
