During July, 2008,
Diabetes Association, Inc.
(DAI) opened its doors to the first
“Latino-American Adult Support Group meeting.” The Latino-American
Adult Support Group offers assistance to Latino-Americans on how
manage their diabetes and answer their questions and concerns by
providing resources. At the very first meeting, the group
learned, “What diabetes is and how it is impacting the Latino
community.” The second meeting discussion was, “The importance of
exercise to manage diabetes and reduce glucose levels.” The
meeting held on
September 25th and pictured below covered the topic, “How to count carbohydrates in Latino meals and the effect on our
sugar/glucose levels.” At the end of the meeting the group enjoyed a snack
according to nutritionist standards. The group is open to the
public provided by the Diabetes Association Inc., a non-profit agency not affiliated with any national
diabetes organizations. For more information, directions or
parking lot availability, please call
Grace Diaz at 508-672-5671. |
