Property Manager Michael
Labossiere
and Education Director Linton Harrington of
The Trustees of Reservations
led a group on the remote and seldom seen “wild side” of the
Copicut Woods, a Wampanog word meaning
"Deep Woods".
This portion of the Bioreserve is called the Shockley Lot and lies west
of Yellow Hill Road. The SuperBowl 2007 Sunday walk traversed through
Proprietor's Way to the Promised Land through parts of the Bioreserve
that are rarely seen. The frozen ground made walking much easier than it
would be in warmer spring weather when much of the ground would be too
soft and wet to hike on. Other heart healthy walks by the Trustees have
included the
Cedar
Swamp, the Mowry
Path, the
Promised Land, a,
trailbuilding walk, a
cross-country
ski trip, a walk through
Interlachen
and
a
Stone Walk.
For more information about
other walks and events organized by the Trustees, check the
calendar on their web site, call 508.679.2115 x10, or e-mail them at
bioreserve@ttor.org. |
