The fourth
annual Eco-Invention Convention drew over 170 students and their parents
on April 25, 2007 to the
Spencer
Borden School where they displayed 72 projects that could positively
impact the environment . Students in grades six through eight competed
for top prizes by coming up with ways to conserve natural resources by
reducing dependence on fossil fuels or by recycling items that are
commonly disposed. Designs were then displayed for Fall River
Environmental Inspector John Staskiewicz and Director of Career and
Technical Education Donna Valente who judged the event. The project
planning included Maureen Ryan-Estes, Community Coordinator for the
Mayor's Office, the Fall River Clean Cities Committee, and the Fall
River Public Schools. The event was sponsored by the Pleasant Street
Domino's Pizza, the St. Anne's Credit Union, and the Shaw's Supermarket
on Mariano Bishop Blvd.
