Realizing that
the chain-link fence along South Main Street at the construction site of
the
new District Court courthouse presented an opportunity, members of
Arts United and the
B.O.L.D. coalition organized
an Art Wrap project with Fall River students. Ten drawings of Fall River
scenes were selected from among 55 entries and enlarged on 16-foot vinyl
banners for display along the fence. Arts United president Jeff
Carpenter introduced Mayor Edward M. Lambert, Jr. who presented
citations to the winners: Miranda Brown, Nathan Gaudette, Rochelle
Gaudette, David Guevara, Dominic Maldonado, Ana Martinez, Heather
Pereira, Gabrielle St. Martin, Lang Sang and Eric Sychampanakhone. The
project was located among several
art displays in
the South Main Street area, part of an
Arts on Main
Street project funded by the
Massachusetts Cultural
Council. The cost of the courthouse banners was funded by donations
by local businesses.
