Fall River streets get
regular cleanings by three different groups. Personnel from the city's
Department of Public Works runs a street cleaner up and down both sides
of Main Street every morning keeping the city's sidewalks clear of
litter. In addition the Department deploys several street cleaning
trucks that clear city streets of dirt and debris on a regular basis.
Local businesses and government organizations perform regular cleaning
of the area around their buildings, often on a daily basis. And inmates
from the Bristol County House of Correction in Dartmouth provide
intermittent cleanups of state and interstate roadways through the city.
Keeping the city clean, one of the Healthy City Action Priorities,
requires everyone to pitch in. Some of the groups that participate
include the DPW
Summer Crew, the City's
Clean City
Committee, neighbors and
neighborhood
groups,
Mass Water Watch, and local employees from
St. Anne's
Hospital and
ComCast. |
