The goal of the General Fitness facility at 425 Pleasant Street in buildings 10 & 14 in the Durfee Union Millplace is to enhance one's quality of life by helping foster positive life skills, effective behavior modification and healthy nutrition choices. Everyone who joins receives a free first-time session with a personal trainer to ensure that they are using the equipment properly. In fact, owner Scott Fastino knows many of the members on a first name basis. "Personal fitness is a lifestyle change," he notes, "and people benefit more when we get to know them." Scott started the business in 1985 and has grown the facility to its present 60,000 square feet, including a 15,000 square foot facilities just for ladies. Classes include yoga, Stott Pilates and martial arts. Membership is open to adolescents and adults of any age. The facility is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m., including most holidays. Call 508-677-4933 for more information.
