On any weekday
evening during the summer in Fall River, dozens of Little League ball
games take place at just about every one of the ten city ball fields
scattered throughout the community. (A new one is under construction at
Maplewood Park.) One of these teams, the Federal
Independent League plays most of its games at the Arthur Sunderland
Memorial Field at Kennedy Park under the shadow of the St. Anne Shrine.
Over 280 boys are involved in either t-ball, minor, major, junior or
senior divisions of the league. Over 400 are involved in the Maplewood
Independent League, and still others play for the North Park, Dumont and
Columbus Little Leagues. The Catholic Youth Organization also runs an
area-wide league for both boys and adults. Little League is a terrific
way for boys and girls to engage in competitive sports and to get plenty of
healthy exercise. Click
