In recognition
of Community Service Month, the
Mayor’s Youth Council is committed to increasing youth
volunteerism. In addition to establishing a community service registry,
the Council is encouraging participation in community service projects
and has created a community service registry with a listing of agencies
that are seeking teen volunteers. The Council also conducted outreach to
youth groups to inform them of special events requiring volunteers. One
such event was Make A
Difference Day, the most encompassing national day of helping
others. This year, “the national day of doing good” occurred on
Saturday, October 22nd at the
Salvation Army where members of the Mayor's Youth Council organized a
Halloween party for Bank Street Neighborhood kids. The Mayor’s Youth
Council is encouraging groups to organize their own community service
projects. |
