Beyond the boundaries of Copicut Woods, which lie entirely within the boundaries of the City of Fall River, lies a hidden Watuppa Reservation parcel named in antique deeds as Promised Land. Trustees of Reservation Property Superintendent Michael Laboissiere guided a group on a heart-healthy two-mile walk on November 20, 2004. The path went along an unmapped trail that leads to this long abandoned settlement at the headwaters of Bread and Cheese Brook and discussed Fall River's “praying Indians” and their pursuits here.

(Top row, from left) Trustees of Reservations Education Director Linton Harrington checks one of the maps of the Copicut Woods, available at the parking lot on Indian Town Road, before the group sets out. Mike Laboissiere describes the history of the property which settled by the English in the early 1600s .(Middle row). Michael summarizes some of the information he was able to glean from available records and from discussions with locals familiar with the area. (Bottom row) The group pauses at the apparent stone foundation of a structure not far from the Bread and Cheese Brook that may have housed early settlers.
